Taking a look at this lovely 2ZZ-equipped Matrix in a manual transmission. Any concerns I should check?

That’s a ridiculous price. I’d get it right now.

If only the Matrix wasn’t a Matrix.

Same block right?

The early ones had a much higher redline, along with more power. Later they lowered the redline and the power for the sake of comfort and smoothness.

Same block, different transmission and different tune. Some were N/A but some were supercharged.

I don't know about the xrs but the 1zz of 03-04 vintage had issues with the programming being too strict for emissions and it would read as the cat failing. Happened to my Corolla (04). Other than that only normal wear stuff on the Corolla. My friend has a matrix (base model?) and has only had cosmetic issues. We had to replace 2 door handles too.

Check to see if the interior has at least 97% of its original hard plastics in place.
Kidding aside, if you enter the Matrix you will find its a good, reliable car, it is a Corolla underneath, after all.
